Lafayette has the second largest Mardi Gras, after New Orleans of course. Mardi Gras begins after the twelve days of Christmas and continues until the day before Ash Wednesday known as Fat Tuesday. There are balls every weekend during the Mardi Gras season, as well as parties and parades. I have been involvedin Mardi Gras since I was three years old and continue to participate every chance I get.

The Louisiana senators throw an annual Mardi Gras party inviting all festival queens and Mardi Gras queens. It is a huge four day event spent in the White House and visiting famous DC spots topped off with a huge party in the convention center in DC. If you ever in DC for it, you should try to get a ticket to atleast one of the events.
This is a group of my friends and I attending Bonaparte Ball this year. It was a blast.
